FIRST MONTH IN BERLIN
UnknownSaturday, August 09, 2014 1 comments

I honestly didn't think anyone would be following this blog after my first few weeks.  But an annoying some-Bonnie reminded me that I was slacking on my updates so here it is!
the night is dark and full of terrors.
One month ago, around exactly this time, I took my first steps in Berlin, my new home across the pond.  If you had asked me a year and a half ago what I wanted my answer would've been, "I want and need to find a job."  I lucked out big time on the job; can't thank you enough Karen, owe you BIG!  If you had asked me 6 months ago what my plans were for this summer, I would've probably told you work, eat, attempt to travel, hang out with my friends and continue on the weight gaining trend I've been on.  Never in my life would I have ever thought about working abroad and living anywhere other than the-6.  But here I am, one month into life as an expat.

First weeks were rough, new continent, new timezone, new country, new city, and no new friends.  It was hard getting lost regularly and and having to learn things on my own when I didn't know where to begin.  But now I'm finally settling in and things are getting better.  Work hard, play hard is really the motto here.  There is something going on in Berlin every weekend, and if there isn't you'll find something, and if there really isn't anything, clubs are open till 8am, some till Monday morning and bars don't close.

For the remainder of the month, I don't have a single lazy-bum-at-home weekend, and I've been told this is the norm and if I had an uneventful weekend, something is wrong.  Next Saturday I'll be going to the "We Are One Festival" and probably an "open-air" party at WaterGate on Sunday.  The following weekend I'll flying to Copenhagen after work and coming back on Sunday.  And finally, I took the 29th off to fly to Nice for the weekend.  Can't wait!!!!!!

This is just the beginning.
of the long road ahead of me.

i love this song....

I miss you guys.  Come to Berlin?  Soon?  Please?
